Shakespeare Himself

We have been given an assignment to create a slideshow presentation based around this question...

What are the main themes and plot explored within Romeo and Juliet? How does it Change contextually within versions we have looked at?

The slideshow has to be 20 - 30 minutes long and be interesting to watch. I want to make the PowerPoint enjoyable to watch so whether that be using power point or prezzie I don't know yet, but my partner and I will combine our set of skills and see what we can produce. To start off with I reread the original script of Romeo and Juliet so I get a better understanding of the play. I have decided to look into William Shakespeare, he who wrote the play, some more to help develop the overall outlook on this particular script.

I have researched a bit about Shakespeare online and in books. During my life in education I have learnt a lot about this writer in various different lessons, including English, History and Drama. So quite a bit of the facts have stuck with me so I didn't have to search to far, jut a little bit to jog my memory. I used Bitesize for some reliable factual information and to reinforce the statements that I already knew of. Here is some of the research I have found and will be using within our Presentation.

-          Romeo and Juliet was written by William Shakespeare, though there is no record of him actually writing the play.
-          Nobody knows how Shakespeare began to write.
-          He became the lead of the theatre troupe - 'The Lord Chamberlain's Men'. The company proved very popular.
-          He was very successful and wealthy in his time, and his work has remained very popular ever since
-          Lived in starford-upon-avon - He was born 1564
-          William was one of 8 children – his father was popular glove maker and studied at a local grammar school
-          When Shakespeare was 18 he married his 26 year old wife Anne Hathaway.
-          He supposedly wrote the play in 1594 or 1955

-          Romeo and Juliet is possibly one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays and has been developed into different formats of performance.
