Courtly Love
Romeo portrays a conventional view of love, courtly or petrarchan. He 'moons' and sighs over Rosaline, he knows Rosaline will never feel the same. and even though he is teased by his friends benvolio and Mercutio he cant forget her.
Sexual Love
When romeo is at the ball his first words show the effect that seeing Juliet has upon him. In essance his first reaction to Rosaline and the emotional love he feels for her is probably better described as infatuation.
Dutiful Love
Best Characterised by Paris in the dutifulness shown in the arranged marriage with Juliet. Juliet's mother and nurse promote the arranged marriage with Paris. you end up quite liking Paris as he is constant even though he falls in love with somebody else.
True Love
The reason why the play is so popular is not because of the different types of love it portrays, it is the description of true love that stands out against the other types of love and is immediately shown at the beginning of the play by describing the pair as star crossed lovers as this suggests from the start that their love is fated.
